Hey all,
Just a few house keeping notes, and an update of the archicad 3d model, i spent yesterday refining structural systems for the roof and wall systems to try get the building to lock up stage.
At this stage of the project i have taken on more of the structural architect role to push model completion, and i think it can be noted that Steve, Kate and i have integrated a lot of our roles to get everything done before friday.
As far as todays progress goes and as far as i am aware, Steve is working on completing the deck, kate the landscaping and i am heading in after work tonight to complete the model.
I think from Ryans initial design and concept progression it can be determined that our design is influenced by that of critical regionalism. Therefore when considering structural solutions, precedence was taken from such starchitects as Glenn Murcutt and Peter Stutchbury and more localised architects as Helen Stronach.
In terms of interior design, i have adapted the role of structural engineer to complement
ideas for the interior design. All rooms contain exposed beams and rafters with multiple use of glass.
Ryan mentioned yesterday that he was unsure of the design of the structure around the courtyard(for presentation purposes) - as it was a bit plain with one wall enclosing the yard to the east. Therefore to complement Kates terraced courtyard i tried to implement multiple roof levels, with varied overhangs to provide shade to the courtyard. This with steves glassed internal courtyard will proved an opportunity for varied digital images. Again, let me know what you all think and any ideas you have, and if you want me to change anything.
Just lastly, It was also discussed yesterday there is a problem importing objects (windows & doors)on the BIM server, and we would have to do it off hte server. Have we decided what we are doing here?
Also in terms designing furniture layouts etc, how much of this do we want to do within the archicad model vs artlantas??? Ryan, i know you needed frames on the walls for pictures etc,
Are you guys going to your lecture this afternoon? maybe we could meet in the lab after for a quick progress update?
If you guys could let me know your thoughts today that would be great!!
Happy Assignmenting!!! :)
